Animal Ventilator

This is the workhorse of the Harvard Apparatus Volume Controlled Ventilators. There are literally thousands of these Ventilators in use in leading research laboratories throughout the world. Their design has been essentially unchanged over the years. There are dozens of examples of these Ventilators giving continuous service for more than thirty years with proper care and maintenance.

Note that the volume adjustment is made on the piston shaft, and that therefore accurate volume adjustment cannot be made while the ventilator is running. However, the rate and the I:E % can be varied while the ventilator is running.

The Harvard Apparatus Starling ‘Ideal’ ventilator features negligible dead space, low noise, low wear and high reliability. The rate is indicated on a LED display. Both the rate and stroke can be changed while the ventilator is running. The fine pitch of the stroke control allows the stroke to be accurately set and the actual stroke is clearly displayed on a static pointer scale, not on the side of the piston, or moving scale.

Overhaul kits are available for both ventilator models and are specific for the type of cylinder used. Overhaul kits include complete instructions and replacement parts, but do not include replacement cylinders. Replacement cylinders must be purchased separately.

The 6025 ventilator is a positive pressure pump (according to Starling’s ventilation method), designed for the use with cats and rabbits.

It consists of a variable-speed geared motor linked by a novel variable stroke mechanism to an interchangeable cylinder/piston assembly (50 or 100 ml).

The speed of the motor is precisely regulated by an electronic feedback-controlled drive, thus providing the most accurate and reliable stroke rate control of any respirator available. Care has been taken to insure that electronic noise broadcasting is negligible.

Model 7025 is designed for Rodents, model 5025 is designed for Dogs.

BUBBLE TRAP COMPLIANCE CHAMPER

The Bubble Trap compliance chamber is completely water jacketed for accurate temperature control. Fluid entry and exit ports are fitted with threaded luer lock ports to allow secure connection of fluid lines.

The side port or compliance port allows a constant flow of solution to the bubble trap where solution not accepted via the out flow port can be returned back to the source. This is an ideal feature for constant pressure protocols where pressure is set via the elevation of the bubble trap and variances in flow rate are determined by the sample during contraction or dilation.

This cylindrical acrylate chamber is ideal for anesthetizing small animals such as rodents, guinea pigs, and birds. It has two, 1/4 inch barbed hose fittings. One for gas delivery and one for gas scavenging. The gas delivery barb directs the flow of anesthetic gas towards the bottom of the chamber. The chamber has a routed top that ensures a perfect fit. There are no corners so cleaning is easy. Includes 10 ft. of 0.25″ ID tubing.

CANINE VENTILATION/ANESTHESIA MASKS

This masks provide a convenient way of providing artificial ventilation or administration of anesthetic gases to dogs. They are constructed of rugged transparent polycorbonate.One end has standard 15mm (3/5 in) taper for connection to anesthesia tubing. while the other end has a soft flexible rubber diaphragm that molds itself to the contours of a dogs snout.
