Description

Product Description

The Labomed Spectro UVD-2950 two-cell UV and visible-light scanning spectrophotometer has a double-beam and a multi-cell receptacle to measure transmittance, absorbance, concentration, and energy for routine quantitative analysis in a range of qualitative and quantitative analysis applications and industries, including chemistry and biochemistry, clinical analysis, pharmaceutical and agricultural research, quality control, and research applications. The double-beam monitoring system improves baseline stability over single-beam monitoring. The instrument has a fixed 1nm spectral bandwidth and a 190 to 1,100nm wavelength range for use in the ultraviolet and visible-light spectral range. The 1nm bandwidth provides lower detection limits and improved signal-to-noise performance. The automatic two-cell sample holder measures one sample and one blank. The automatic wavelength setting speeds processing and reduces operator error. The tungsten (W) and deuterium (D2) lamps automatically change with the wavelength, and the silicon photodiode detector reduces noise. The backlit LCD displays photometric values and spectral curves, and the capacitive-touch buttons ease cleaning and prevent liquids from entering the device.

The built-in monoprocessor performs photometric measurements, spectrum scanning, and quantitative determination. Photometric analysis measures transmittance and absorbance at one to 10 wavelengths. Results are calculated based on user-defined criteria and include K-factor calculations. Spectrum scanning measures transmittance and absorbance on the selected wavelength range using the peak-pick module. Up to 10 spectra and time-course curves can be measured and recalled in memory, and up to 24 standards can be entered and measured for the fit of calibration curve with orders from 1st to 4th. Quantitation determination can be performed with up to eight standards on samples with an unknown concentration using methods of one to three wavelength quantitations, and fitting the calibration curve of 1st to 4th order.

The RS-232C interface enables data to be transferred to a computer (sold separately). The UV-WIN software package allows data to be collected, stored, and analyzed, and enables the instrument to be run directly from the computer. Operations performed by the software include photometry, spectrum scanning, and quantitation measurements. The software performs 3D graphing of results. Functions include saving and loading data, Peak-Valley selection, calculating derivatives, printing data as needed or at set intervals, activity calculation, cursor locating, zooming, and A-T conversion. The software is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

A spectrophotometer is a device used to measure and analyze aspects of light absorption in liquids and solids. Readings are displayed in digital or analog format. A spectrophotometer can have a handheld body for field use, or a bench-top body for laboratory applications. It may have one or more adapters to enable it to measure surfaces or liquids. A spectrophotometer is used for testing and measuring in anatomy, chemistry, agriculture, process plant, food and beverage making, homeland security, and educational applications.

Labomed manufactures spectrophotometers, microscopes, diagnostic instruments, and accessories for scientific and medical laboratories. The company, founded in 1980, is headquartered in Culver City, CA and meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards 9001:2013.
